Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
For me, we should look to shift:

Ayew - 10m+ | a shit version of Hernandez

Hernandez - 10m+ | too lightweight and a luxury poacher for a club in our position. Our strikers need a better all around game.

Carroll - 5m+ | offers nothing like value

Kouyate - 18m+ | we need to improve ball retention in the middle of the park and this headless chicken will not do that, plus hes saleable and has fallen well below his peak

Add that to a war chest of 30m (reportedly) gets three huge earners off the books who thus far are ineffective, and gives us 75m to play with.

Given we're setting up for 3-5-2, and we have shown Arnautovic and Antonio to be effective forwards in that system, we can make Sakho a fair contract offer and the chance to be first choice striker (which really is all he seems to want and why is constantly pissed off...earning parity and to be selected).

We then need a striker, two central midfielders, and maybe another centre back (since we're playing 3, although with Reid, Ogbonna, Collins, Fonte, Cresswell and Rice we have 6 already).

I personally don't think we need a right wing back. Byram when back is perfect there, and Antonio can cover Zabaleta until then (he's just as good there as Masuaku)

If Oxford continues to play first XI in Germany and does well I'd bring him back and add to the squad alongside Rice.

All very Championship Manager of course, but they're the kind of squad changes I think we need to make to rebalance.

From then its down to the scouting network to come up with the targets, but Moyes doesn't seem to favour big names or prima donnas son would expect we'd be looking more in the hidden talent end of the market...more like Masuaku than more Hernandez, which for a club with our clout makes much much more sense.

Carroll + Sakho + Ayew but only on the proviso that the money brought in is added to the fantasy £26m that the dwarf said he'd bid for Carvahlo. I do not believe for a second a bid was made, nor do I think any money from sales will be given to Moyes so he should just carry on with what we've got

Exactly. They may indulge Moyes in January but even if - IF - they could get that sort of money for the players cited, you really think the funds would go back into funding transfers...?

What, like, "one in, one out" ?

100% keep Kouyate, he can play in 3 or 4 positions and that versatility is important

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
That of course is another debate entirely.

And is a headline sale of (as an example) 10m, turned into a headline purchase of 10m...since 10m in probably only services a purchase of about 6m by the time agents, associations, registration fees etc have been factored in.

Shifting the 3 forwards though would free up serious FFP funds b which could only be good news given the are providing next to no value to the club, with two of them essentially luxury bench options, and the other a sometimes hard working footballing non entity.

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
We've struggled for years to push on as we've had no fit strikers. We can't sell all the options we have without good replacements and I can't see any good ones or any value in the January window. Everybody wants them.
We know Sakho will go. That's one less. I suspect we'll have bids for Ayew and Carroll is still injured on and off and expensive. Antonio is not a striker.

We need depth to survive this year and push up the table. Unless we can sign anyone decent then why would you weaken the squad.

I'd definately keep Kouyate and Hernandez and I'd like a striker like Carroll who offers some aerial threat but has some mobility and isn't a crock.
I don't know what the future is for Snodgrass and Fonte given Sullivans stupid muttering.
A defensive midfielder, a creative midfielder and a reliable striker who can get 10 plus goals is a must.

Is Harry Arter a done deal? If so we can definitely rule out carvalho.

I'd like us to get a young pacy promising attacker. Justin Kluivert maybe.

I think we’ll have no problem staying up with this squad, especially if we add a couple of quality additions. With that in mind, I’m happy to spend the rest of the season giving the players we have a chance to revive their form under Moyes.

The turnaround of some of our players so far has been impressive. A few weeks ago most people would have been happy to see the back of players like Arnie and Cresswell.

Our confidence was shot to pieces earlier this season, the players were unfit and there wasn’t much organisation on the pitch. Let’s see what the players are capable of when they’re fit, organised and high on confidence. There might be a few more surprises.

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
It's actually depressing when you think that our entire strike force is basically shit...not including Arnie and Antonio, who some may see as strikers..

Ayew - A fraud. Will be lucky to get 5 mil for him.

Sakho - A nut job, and over-rated to boot.

Carroll - It's over for him at this level. Maybe Newcastle will take a point, but only on loan.

Hernandez - We've done our money on him. Doesn't have the all round game to start for PL clubs, he's a super sub and that's it. Can't see any serious takers for the moody little shit.

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
Carroll £8M+ - Injury prone and shit

Sakho £8M+ - Bad attitude and shit

Byram £5M - Not a premier league footballer

Snodgrass £8M - Take the cash and run if Villa want a perm

Ayew is a good squad player to have and has a nack of popping up with goals. Kouyate we should keep, it weakens our squad to sell him

Those sales plus an injection of £30M can get us two or three really good players

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
January is not the time for a massive overhaul of players and we can't afford to let any midfielders or defenders go anyway as we are struggling with numbers as it is.

At most I would say 3 in and 2 out.

I would let Sakho and Ayew leave and bring in a defensive midfielder, a Right sided defender and a pacy attacking player who can play either out wide or up front.

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
I am not sure Hernandez has really has a chance to show what he can do and it is pretty silly to think he will be leaving this window.

If we did a list like this a month ago, I am sure Arnautovic would have been on a lot of people's. As well as some of our starting defenders.

Things change quickly but with Chicharito we knew he was not going to be a creative force and would require some service. We have just started to see our defence form back up, so give our midfield and wingers a chance (with a possible edition or two) to see if they can provide that service.

We also should not be selling every actual striker we have in the blind faith that 1) We will get one or more in and 2) that they will hit the ground running. I think we have some different options there now and will an improved/augment midfield we can try some different things.

All in all, not the area of most concern, in my opinion. If Sakho actually wants to leave, not much you can do about that and we should bring in replacement that could even afford to be a bit of a punt. But other than that cool the jets a bit.

Re: Wheeling and Dealing: Who to try and shift in January?
Selling Hernandez would be a ludicrous mistake. No idea how people would even begin justifying that in their tiny pea brained heads.

Byram has the potential, with proper training, to be a great right sided player. He's clearly been mismanaged for the last 2 years since he came in and deserves time with our new coaching setup.

The obvious ones to move on are Ayew and Sakho. Obiang needs upgrading as he's no defensive mid.

Certainly need 2 midfields minimum, a left back and a right back and a replacement for Sakho.

Why do we need a LB and a RB? We are a three at the back team now!

Sell Hernandez?

Fuck no.

Think him and Arnie up top would work. Get rid of Sakho in Jan and Carroll at end of the season.
